A Mobile Worker’s dream

by Kiven on January 17th, 2007

Carry your PC around without actually doing the heavy lifting, all you need is a usb drive and you’re good to go with Portable Apps. Its a fantastic compilation of free software especially if you’re moving from one computer to another and still want to have your documents and program settings with you.

PortableApps Suite™ is a collection of portable apps including a web browser, email client, office suite, calendar/scheduler, instant messaging client, antivirus, sudoku game, backup utility and integrated menu, all preconfigured to work portably. Just drop it on your portable device and you’re ready to go.

    Thanks for the article.

Now, my USB drive (I’m using a 512 PQI flash drive) have three (3) open source-based portable apps from the site (except the launcher), namely: Firefox Portable, Thunderbird Portable (both Mozilla), and VLC Media Player Portable (VideoLan). I’m planning to upgrade my flash drive to either 1G or 2G this year. Anyway, I love these apps, especially FF-P.
