Build a sub $400 PC
Sometimes, we just need to build a PC that doesn’t have the fastest processor or graphics card but performs very well in day to day activities such as email, browsing and the occasional multimedia need. A post by Joel Durham over at Extreme Tech sheds some light into what parts to choose, what migration strategy he used and some problems that we can avoid when building our own sub $400 USD PC.
Mom’s computer needs don’t exactly call for a cutting edge PC. She does lots of email and Web surfing, and uses Hallmark Card Studio to make art projects and for its scheduler. That’s about it. Her needs wouldn’t even use 10% of the kind of computers that that analysts at ExtremeTech build for themselves. Mom’s not a gamer, she doesn’t edit photos, she doesn’t do video production, and so on. She needed a nice, efficient workstation to do basic tasks.
