Four Vulnerabilities Patched By Microsoft

Microsoft issued security bulletins and patched for four vulnerabilities today. Three of the flaws, in Microsoft Word, Publisher and the Jet database engine, are critical in at least some configurations. A fourth vulnerability, in Microsoft’s malware detection engine, maxes out at moderate.

Vista Service Pack 1’s 573 suspended

PC World says” It looks like Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista is (almost) ready for prime time. SP1 contains a whopping 573 bug fixes and patches that have accumulated since Vista first shipped in early 2007, plus some performance improvements. I advise you to get it–but only after the wrinkles are ironed out.”

Microsoft Accidentally Releases Vista SP1 To Public

On Thursday, Microsoft had accidentally released the first service pack (SP1) for Windows Vista to a group of users who were not supposed to receive the update until mid-March.
“Yesterday, a build of SP1 was posted to Windows Update and it was inadvertently made available to a broad group,” Microsoft said in a statement.

Vista SP1 Updates Stall Out Some PCs

Updates that Microsoft Corp. began feeding Windows Vista users last week to prep PCs for next month’s release of Service Pack 1 (SP1) have crippled some machines, according to messages posted to the company’s support site.
