Dell Adopts AMD Chips
In big news that is expected to have wide-ranging effects including an expected dip in Intel stock, Dell has announced its plan to start using AMD Opteron processors in its multi-processor server line.
The move has not been unexpected as Opterons benchmark higher than Intel’s Xeon processor but up until now, Intel and Dell have had a lockstep marriage.
At the open of the market today, Intel stock was trading at $18.65/share. Will watch through the day.
