My favorite rss reader: Great News is newly updated and includes tightened security, plus a few enhancements: GreatNews 1.0 Beta Build 374 by CurioStudio

This week, it’s raining ‘zero day exploits.’ Microsoft just released an advisory for another one: windows shell exploit, rated extremely critical. [BetaNews] Visit Seconia for an indepth review of Microsoft Windows Shell Code Execution Vulnerability. Seconia’s recommendation: ‘Set the kill bit for the “WebViewFolderIcon” ActiveX control.’

Microsoft’s Security advisory offers a number of workarounds. It is most important that your virus definitions be up to date, your firewall installed and running, avoid visiting unsafe sites, and do not open any suspicious email, especially attachments of suspect email…
