How to transfer your VHS tapes to DVD, PSP, iPod or Zen Vision
In September, I wrote how easy it is to convert your vinyl records to digital recordings with ADS Instant Music. Because of our success with ADS’s Instant Music convertor, I decided to convert our VHS videotapes to iPod and DVD movies. It was just as easy as ADS promised:
- Purchase the DVDXpressDX2, available for about $90.
- Plug your VCR into the Xpress convertor, using the included cables. Attach the DVD convertor to your PC using the USB connector. Power it up.
- Install the included software as directed. Play your video in your VCR. Capture the video to your PC as it streams over.
The easy to understand menus and logical instructions make the conversion process about as simple as playing a videotape. We converted several home videos, one of which dated back to the 1930s world tour by my grandparents and their children.
