Improve your boot times
Here are some quick techniques i personally use to speed up boot times on a variety of systems:
1. use bootvis. i know microsoft says it wont affect your xp boot times but my experience differs. use google for the application. refer to this if you havent used bootvis before.
2. disable floppy seek in your bios. when was the last time you accessed a floppy, let alone own one?
3. make sure that your primary HDD is your number one boot option. gain precious seconds by booting straight from your HDD rather than making your system check your optical drive or other boot locations first.
4. get a fast HDD. like Western Digital’s Raptor HDDs. Pricey but worth it imho. just make sure to pair it with an adequate processor and ram.
