Shortcut

An object that allows you to launch a program with a click of the mouse, without having to give a command to a computer to do so.

A shortcut can also point to a folder or file and allow a user to open these types of items without having to search for them.

A shortcut is usually embedded into an icon.

In a sentence: That shortcut points to my document.
